Imperial Purple Orchid

I’ve written time and again, the notion that through flower symbolism we can express what we want to say.  AND, I’ve always been the kind of person who sends hand-written notes, just to say hello!  From a flower’s name to its distinctive characteristics and rich mythology, flowers are infused with symbolism and meaning.

Lilac Orchid Card card

One of the most highly coveted of ornamental plants, the delicate, graceful orchid represents love, luxury, beauty and strength. In ancient Greece, orchids were associated with virility.  Personally, I can’t tell you what they taste like!  I prefer photographing and viewing them.  However, Greek women believed that if the father of their unborn child ate new orchid tubers, the baby would be a boy. If the mother ate small orchid tubers, she would give birth to a girl.  If anyone ever tries this, please message me and let me know how it works out…
